The Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC) and E&E Engineering and Service Company Limited (E&E) have celebrated their agreement on Operation and Maintenance Services Agreement.

The ceremony took place in Vientiane on November 2, after the agreement was signed and implemented on August 12 this year.

Since the full operation of the Nam Theun 1 hydropower plant in August this year, E&E has entered into an agreement to provide operation and maintenance services for an operation period of 14 years.

The work will include an operation and power purchase agreement, maintenance of dam safety and 500 kV transmission line, as well as engineering services, which include technical services as indicated in the scope of work and terms of reference for a large maintenance project.

The Nam Theun 1 dam is located in Phonchaleun village, Pakkading district, Borikhamxay province, and is owned by NT1PC.

Nam Theun 1 Hydropower project took seven years to build, with construction taking place from 2016 to 2022 which has and installed capacity and annual energy generation capacity of nearly 2,500 GWh, with all electricity to be sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Électricité du Laos.

In 2021, E&E began their pre-operation service period to NT1 Hydropower project for one year from August 1, 2021 to August 12 this year.

The project is operated by the Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC), which was granted a concession by the Lao government to build and operate the Nam Theun 1 hydropower project for the first 27 years of its operation.
